About me
My name is Rebecca, and I am here to listen to you. I offer online counselling sessions to people worldwide. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and follow their guidelines for good professional and ethical practice. I stay up to date with legislative and professional standards I am bound to as a mental healthcare professional. I am qualified to work with people aged 16 years old and above.
I have experience working alongside clients concerned with low mood, anxiety, self-esteem, bereavement and loss, stress, anger, questions of sexual or gender identity, relationships, and personal development.
I am qualified to a Masters degree level in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I continue to maintain my learning through reading new research, attending workshops, engaging in regular supervision, and drawing from the experience of other practitioners.
Training Background:

What can we achieve with Counselling?
I aim to help you explore your concerns, feelings, worldview, habits, behaviour and thoughts. Through doing this, eventually you will realise your own abilities and independence to cope better with your present concerns, and those that might arise in the future.
The goal for my counselling is that you are more able to identify emotional and thought patterns that can lead to psychological distress, to be more able to challenge your inner-critic, or to be comfortable verbalising your experiences to other people close to you. I encourage you to try new healthy habits, new routines, and new methods to help you with sleep problems, and grounding techniques. I know I have done my job well when you feel more sure of being able to cope when things go wrong, and when you have found what works for you.
Counselling can be the opportunity for you to reflect on life, talk at your own pace, and find a way forward.
Session Information
Due to COVID-19, I offer sessions exclusively online via Zoom, Microsoft Teams or FaceTime. I can give advice on how to set up accounts in order to use those online platforms. I can also offer sessions via telephone in some cases. I can offer sessions to everyone living outside of the United States and Canada (for insurance reasons).
I offer a first 30 minute appointment for free. We can use that time to talk about what counselling could do for you, what we can expect to achieve together, and answer any questions you might have. After this first appointment it is your decision whether or not to pursue further sessions, so you only book the next session if you feel counselling with me is right for you! Beyond the first appointment, the cost is £45 per 60 minute session. I offer a discount for students, retired individuals, and those on low or no income. This can be discussed during the initial session.
I offer counselling on a short, medium and long-term basis. Everyone is different in what is needed and what will be the most help. This means we may meet for as few as four sessions, up to 20 or more!
FAQs
What type of therapy do you offer?
I offer Person-Centred Therapy, which is a classic kind of talk-therapy. This isn’t a type of counselling with tasks and homework, it’s more about the personal connection and moving you towards knowing yourself more deeply, making progress through exploration and becoming more independent!
What can you help me with?
Counselling can be helpful in a variety of ways! A summary would be that I can support you to explore your concerns in a safe and confidential context, to help you better understand your situation, and to see a healthy way forward.
What’s the difference between counselling and just talking to someone I know?
Talking to friends and family about your concerns can be very helpful as they might know a lot about you, they can give advice based on what they know of the situation, and it can be comforting to talk to someone who has a personal connection to you. Counselling is different in that your counseller doesn’t know you personally yet, and won’t be approaching the conversation with any kind of personal motive. It can be refreshing to explain how you really feel to someone new, someone who doesn’t have any preconceived ideas about you or what you’re dealing with!
How many sessions will I use?
This will be very different for each person, typically it is 12 sessions, but some use six sessions, and sometimes up to 20 or more. It depends on the reason why you’re coming to counselling and how the work progresses. We will do a check-in roughly every six sessions to check and acknowledge the progress we have made.
How much do sessions cost?
Each 60 minute session will cost £45. The first 30 minute session is completely free, and we can talk about counselling and address any questions you might have with no obligation to plan any more sessions afterwards.
Where are you based?
I am currently based in Glasgow, Scotland, but all my counselling work is done online or over the phone.
I don’t live in the UK, can we still have sessions?
Yes, as long as you have an internet connection! I am insured to see clients worldwide, apart from in Canada and the United States. We can arrange sessions with different time zones in mind.
I’m feeling nervous about counselling, what should I do?
I know it can be nerve-wracking to think about opening up to someone new, but we can work through these anxious feelings together. I assure you I bring no judgement to our counselling sessions. I understand that nervous feeling can make it difficult to reach out, and that’s why I offer a short first session to try it out, to see how you feel about the idea of counselling with me. There is no obligation to continue unless you choose to!
For any enquiries, use the contact form below to get in touch, and let’s chat about setting up a first session! You’ll get an email reply by the next working day.
